Vena Open Air Museum

The Museum is set in a scenic environment with a creek and a pond with water lilies. It is a historic centre of great value to the area of Vena. Here you find lots of historic buildings:

"Käreby" cottage was built by the military officer J. Ärekrona in Käreby in the end of the 17th century. The cottage was moved to the Open Air Museum in 1940. The house has a big room and kitchen at ground level, two rooms on the second floor. All of the rooms have an open fire and lead mounted windows. On the walls you can find original hand painted wallpaper. The large room on the second floor was used as a school room and living area for the assistant vicar. Once a priest called Johannes Lind (possibly Lindner) is supposed to have lived here. Researches seem to tell that he could be the grandfather of the famous author Albert Engström.

Castenhof from the 1600s used to be a cottage casting under the vicarage. Nowadays it contains the museum.

Klockstapeln (The Bell Construction) from Vena's old church school has been moved to the park where it is used during the folk feasts at the opening of the celebrations.
